Hepatitis C – a problem too often neglected

Hepatitis C is a major health problem in Scotland. It affects too many people, and remains undetected and untreated in too many cases with resultant poor consequences for the longer term health of those infected. Hepatitis C is often surrounded by poor information, myths and fears which all act as barriers to addressing an illness for which treatment is available.

The Scottish Action Plan on Hepatitis C

The Scottish Action Plan on Hepatitis C aims to significantly increase the numbers of people undertaking treatment and to cut back on levels of infection by preventative strategies. The Action Plan recognises the part that patients and the voluntary sector can play in addressing Scotland’s Hep C problem

The Conference Programme

Through a mix of speakers, perspectives and accessible workshops, the conference will provide networking opportunities, information and insights which may be of value to all stakeholders with a clear focus on meeting the needs of those directly affected by the virus.

Launch of Patient Forum

To mark the importance of securing and developing the contribution of Hepatitis C patients, the conference will provide a launch for a Scottish Hepatitis C Patients Forum. The Forum will aim to express the concerns and views of people living with and affected by the virus to affect services and strategies. The Hepatitis C Resource Centre is committed to assisting the development of the Forum and will consult with the Forum to ensure that its policy and plans are consistent with patient needs and expectations
